It is highly encouraged that mostly children walk in the parade and embrace the theme.
DON’T HAVE A GROUP TO MARCH WITH?
No problem, just show up at the check-in table on
Emerson at University by 9:30am on parade day and march with our Kids Of Palo Alto category. Kids are encouraged to dress up, ride their wheels and/or walk their pets! Kids can march in a costume related to the theme. Please note, pet safety is very important, please make sure all pets are on leashes or appropriately housed and be sure to bring water in case your pet gets thirsty and bags to pick up any (ah-hem) refuse.
ZERO WASTE EVENT GUIDELINES
The City of Palo Alto has the goal of Zero Waste (no waste burned or buried) by 2021. In an effort to achieve this goal, the City requires that all special events practice waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting measures.
Please review these guidelines when designing your float/ participating in the parade.
PALO ALTO RECREATION FOUNDATION
Show off your creativity by entering your float! Floats will be judged during the parade route. Judging criteria includes overall theme, public appeal, craftsmanship, proportions, animation and/or special effects, and ingenuity.
3rd place winner receives $125. 2nd place winner receives $250. 1st place winner receives $500. Only non-commercial floats are eligible for cash prizes. Winners will be announced at the May Fête Fair. Complete the entry from below and check the box labeled non-commercial float.
Submit the form by April 19, 2019.
In concern for safety, throwing of giveaways during the parade is not permitted. Balloons are also not permissible per Zero Waste Event Guidelines.
